Smell the Roses

20:01:00

I am somewhat getting obsessed with roses. All my life I thought that their smell was just too strong or granny-ish for me. Maybe it's me getting into my 30s. Or maybe that I've discovered that rose scented products can be subtle.

I have tried to gather some of my rose themed products to share with you in this post. I notice that most of them are hand creams or lip balms. I don't remember seeing lots of facial products with roses though. I know that Dr Organics make some, and I also have tried other Weleda Wild Rose products before. Other than that, it seems that roses are playing in the hand cream/bubble bath/lip balm territory.

The Creams

One of the first rose scented product I like was the Turkish Delight Body Polish by Lush. Lots of people were raving about it on YouTube. I feel that the hype has vanished, but everytime I open the tub I tell myself I should use it more often.

Even after liking this, I still didn't fell like a "rose" girl. It all changed when I got the L'Occitane en Provence Rose Petals Hand Cream in a magazine. It's a shame it's a limited editon product, as I don't like their Rose 4 Reines one. I just noticed that's it's back on the Sephora website, so I might put an order soon...

Now if you want to order online from L'Occitane, they have a 50% off sale going on:

Glysomed has been a hand cream brand I reach out for on occcasion, especially with our windy Canadian winters. Until last week, I have never realised that it smelled like roses, but sure enough, Rosa Canina Leaf extract figures amongst the ingredients.

I cannot say a lot about the Lanolips Rose Hand Balm Intense, as I have just open the tube for you, but it smells more like baby powder than roses. But it does have Rosa Damascena oil in it, there is just another smell overriding it. Which is kinda weird, as rose is quite potent.

The Lip Balms

How cute is the Figs & Rouge Coco Rose Lip Balm tube? Its pink flamingos remind me of Alice in Wonderland! It is a nice lip balm  with a hint of colour, but it doesn't translate on my dark lips. It still has that rose scent.

I could only find those lipglosses but all of Anna Sui makeup products smells like roses. I used to have a blusher from that brand and it was my favourite. Unfortunately, I lost it while moving. The powder products smells better than the glosses though.

Many of you might already know the Fresh Sugar Rosé Lip Treatment as it was part of the Sephora birthday gift a few years ago. As you might have guessed it, it is made with rose water.

The Scents

It isn't today that we can perfume ourselves with our nail polish, but Revlon is working towards it. Their Revlon Parfumerie nail polishes come in a variety of scents, and mine is the African Tea Rose. It does smells divine, but only for a day.

If I really want to smell like the flower, I will opt for the Zara Rose Eau de Toilette. It's not too overpowering, but yet it's a classy rose.

The Facials/Oils

I finished this tube of Weleda Wild Rose Smoothing Night Cream a while ago, but I have kept the tube just because it's pink and cute. How pathetic of me. I liked the cream, but I thought the rose scent was too strong, especially for a night cream. So I wouldn't recommend for sensitive skin. I prefered the Smoothing Facial Oil capsules (see my review here).

I used to have a Neom Organics Complete Bliss Room Mist and I have to say, the name was well suited. Now I have run out of it, but I do still have a few of their mini  oils, and the Complete Bliss Body Oil takes me back to my room in London, perfumed with Moroccan Blush Rose :)

If you read my blog last week you probably have read my post about my DYI Rose Water. I love how fresh it makes my skin feel.

  1. I was never very fond of rose either, but I have definitely come around to it. I've never seen tubed lip balm from Figs & Rouge- need to check that out :D

  2. Oh my gosh I adore the scent of Rose! I always used to think it was a bit 'old lady' but I adore it.
I don't think you can get a more feminine scent xx
