I'm not sure if you can still find today's polish, as I just noticed it is not on Revlon's Canadian website anymore. I bought it last year, when the brand launched the Parfumerie collection, polishes that is fragranced when dry.
This one is Apricot Nectar, a slightly peachy orange cream polish. Not sure why but I always struggle to capture peach correctly on camera, it always appear more orange than it is! It applies weirdly depending on the hand. On my left hand (I'm a righty) it applied like a charm and I needed two coats. On the right one though, it was streaky and I needed 3 coats to be opaque.
It lasts a good few days.As for the perfume, it lasts about 1-2 days. This one reminded me of the Popeye Spinach Gum from my childhood. Do you remember those?
Revlon Parfumerie Apricot Nectar, around 6$.
Have you tried the Revlon Parfumerie collection? Or any other scented nail polish?
The first thing that pops up into my mind when trying to open my post for those berries is Miranda Priestly in Devils Wears Prada: "Florals? For spring? Ground breaking." Except that here you would replace florals by berries and Spring for Autumn.
Yet there is a reason this colour is so popular comes this time of year. We like dark hues, but we still want a pop of colour. So berry tones are the perfect solution for this, a reminder of the fallen leaves, and a promise of mulled wine to come!
And it seems lots of the lipsticks and glosses I picked up in the past week (I know, and this is not even everything, I went shopping cray cray) were in those berry tones, ranging from burgundy to rose.
Hard Candy Ombre Lipstick in Friendly: This one is particularly fun, as it promises the 90's lipline effect in one product. The 90's are really on right now, but I'm not sure if this trend will pick up! It is nice and creamy though.

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in Parisian Passion: I think this will be my favourite.a deep shade that will pop out from your scarf and knits!.
Personelle Rouge Expression in Elegant: All the colours from the lineup were tempting I have to say! They're made with shea butter and are so moisturizing!
L'Oréal Caresse Wet Shine in Romy: A blue toned pink gloss, I imagined it with rosy cheeks after an afternoon walk!
Do you like berry toned lips in the Fall?
Today I'm going to spare you my wonderful nails, as I have been painting all day and this weekend as well. So no manicure for me today.
I did pick up those two beauties on Friday, as I was out shopping in New Brunswick with my mum. The Superstore (Loblaws) looks like it is streaming their beauty aisle, and they were still having 50% off some polishes.
Those two are no exception. I have been eyeing Essie Master Plan for a while now, I think I first notied it on Hello October. But I just didn't want to pay full price for yet another greige polish! But at $4.50, I'm alright with it!
I also got this Revlon Nail Art Sun Candy polish in Pink Dawn. Again, another item I didn't want to pay full price for, as I have lots of pale pink in my stash! This one was reduced to around $3.
Have you scored any good deals lately? Any heatwave where you live?
I love bold colours! I've always had and I'm glad they're on trend and that people are finally getting to terms with them.
I also love lip crayons. They're quite the thing as well at the moment, and rightly so. They are easy to apply (which is handy when you draw with punchy colours!) and they last a good amount of time.
Left to right: Showy, Mai Tai, I Want Candy, Bazooka Pink, Audacious |
I rounded up for you my favourite for this Summer:
Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Audacious: This is probably as orange as it gets. If you're into orange at the moment and that you are daring, this one would be for you! All Revlon Colorbust Balms collection are good, and they all have the same minty scent, which I don't really like but I know most people do. ($8.99)
Annabelle TwistUp in Bazooka Pink: This is a bluish pink that reminds me of MAC Saint-Germain. I don't own that shade so I cannot really compare but Bazooka Pink seems pinker. I think it would look stunning on a dark skin, but I know many pale girls like Saint-Germain so could look well on them too. ($9.95)
Rimmel Lasting Finish Colour Rush in I Want Candy: Such a playful name! If you lived in the 80's you will probably have the song stuck in your head by now hahaha! I was wearing this one today and got many compliments. It looks good on brunettes! ($6.99)
Annabelle TwistUp in Mai Tai: An orangy red, the summer version for the Parisian chic! Would look good with a stripy top for a French je ne sais quoi. ($9.95)
Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Showy: Another Revlon Matte balm. This one is the less bold of the bunch. It is a berry pink, but the matte finish gives it an edgy look. ($8.99)

Do you love the bold lip trend? What is your favourite bright shade?
Some of you might hit the town this weekend, and even though I'm not really naughty lately I decided to share my beauty go-to's for when I had a little too many and I have to go somewhere.
Maybe you don't recall anything from the night before. Don't worry! It happens to everyone. If that is the case, you might have forgotten to take your makeup off before bed. (You know what? Most bloggers would shoo you for that, but not me! It happens to the best of us!) In that case, I would use the Marcelle Ultra Gentle Cleansing Gel. As the name suggests, it is gentle, but it still takes the makeup off, so you don't have to rub your eyes. Great to kill two birds with one stone, so you can stay in bad a little longer!
Same thing for your hair. If you don't want to take too much time to wash and blow dry the mane, a good dry shampoo will do the trick! As you may know, my favourite is the Klorane Extra Gentle Dry Shampoo. Brownie points for its subtle scent, because you don't want an overpowering smell when you're nauseous.
You probably noticed than when you drink too much (alcohol), your skin is soaking in sebum. This happens because alcohol dehydrates the skin, which then ovecompensates with sebum to moisturise itself. By using a serum before your moisturiser, such as Hydraluron, you help your skin to get its moisture back without floating in grease.
Likewise, to avoid looking like a disco ball, I would put some NeoStrata Oil Free Matifying Fluid. I don't use this on a regular basis, because I don't want my sebaceous glands to go overboard (if they feel the skin is dehydrated).
Last step would be minimal makeup. If I forgot to remove my makeup the night before, I try to let my skin breath. Also, because of the aforementioned extra shine I might have, I don't want to risk a slippery foundation or mascara. But because you still want to look like you made an effort, I suggest a bright lip colour. It will distract from your tired eyes. And a bold colour easily does the job of faking a put together look. Now your lips will probably be dehydrated (again, that's what alcohol does) and that's why the bright pinks of the Revlon Lip Butters would be a safe bet. Think Lollipop, Sweet Tart or Raspberry Pie instead of shades like Cupcake, that can wash you out.
Do you have any tips to share? Do so in the comment below! :)
Sunset Angora, Tutti Frutti, Coral Lustre, Bubble, Brighton Beach Peach |
God! Winter guys! Is NOT going away! Now we don't know where to put it anymore! We have a hill of the stuff in front of the garage door, because that's the only place we can put it.
I decided that if Winter is not going away on its own, I'm going to kick him out! Shooo! Yesterday I did a Spring clean and I also choose a few lippies to make me think of brighter days.
First we have L'Oréal Colour Riche Sunset Angora. A creamy formula with a salmon colour. Coral might be tricky to wear if you don't have perfectly white teeth but if you go for a pinker shade like this one instead of an orangier coral, then you will be on the safe side.
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti is a scary color if you're not used to bolds! Is it an orangy shade, so it would be better if you have white teeth.
Maybelline Color Sensational in Coral Lustre is another orangy coral, but a little less frightening that Tutti Frutti!
Annabelle TwistUp Bubble: A nice nudy coral. If you are not used to colours, this would be your bet. The fine crayon tip makes it impossible to miss application. It has a velvety matte finish, that is all the rage right now!
Brighton Beach Peach, Sunset Angora, Tutti Frutti, Coral Lustre, Bubble |
When in doubt, wear gloss! Gloss and sheer lipstick are also good option if you're not sure to rock bold colour. NYC Liquid Lipshine in Brighton Beach Peach is a lovely peachy (duh!) nude gloss, that can suit most looks.
What will be your colour this Spring?
I am somewhat getting obsessed with roses. All my life I thought that their smell was just too strong or granny-ish for me. Maybe it's me getting into my 30s. Or maybe that I've discovered that rose scented products can be subtle.
I have tried to gather some of my rose themed products to share with you in this post. I notice that most of them are hand creams or lip balms. I don't remember seeing lots of facial products with roses though. I know that Dr Organics make some, and I also have tried other Weleda Wild Rose products before. Other than that, it seems that roses are playing in the hand cream/bubble bath/lip balm territory.
The Creams
One of the first rose scented product I like was the Turkish Delight Body Polish by Lush. Lots of people were raving about it on YouTube. I feel that the hype has vanished, but everytime I open the tub I tell myself I should use it more often.
Even after liking this, I still didn't fell like a "rose" girl. It all changed when I got the L'Occitane en Provence Rose Petals Hand Cream in a magazine. It's a shame it's a limited editon product, as I don't like their Rose 4 Reines one. I just noticed that's it's back on the Sephora website, so I might put an order soon...
Now if you want to order online from L'Occitane, they have a 50% off sale going on:
Glysomed has been a hand cream brand I reach out for on occcasion, especially with our windy Canadian winters. Until last week, I have never realised that it smelled like roses, but sure enough, Rosa Canina Leaf extract figures amongst the ingredients.
I cannot say a lot about the Lanolips Rose Hand Balm Intense, as I have just open the tube for you, but it smells more like baby powder than roses. But it does have Rosa Damascena oil in it, there is just another smell overriding it. Which is kinda weird, as rose is quite potent.
The Lip Balms
How cute is the Figs & Rouge Coco Rose Lip Balm tube? Its pink flamingos remind me of Alice in Wonderland! It is a nice lip balm with a hint of colour, but it doesn't translate on my dark lips. It still has that rose scent.
I could only find those lipglosses but all of Anna Sui makeup products smells like roses. I used to have a blusher from that brand and it was my favourite. Unfortunately, I lost it while moving. The powder products smells better than the glosses though.
Many of you might already know the Fresh Sugar Rosé Lip Treatment as it was part of the Sephora birthday gift a few years ago. As you might have guessed it, it is made with rose water.
The Scents
It isn't today that we can perfume ourselves with our nail polish, but Revlon is working towards it. Their Revlon Parfumerie nail polishes come in a variety of scents, and mine is the African Tea Rose. It does smells divine, but only for a day.
If I really want to smell like the flower, I will opt for the Zara Rose Eau de Toilette. It's not too overpowering, but yet it's a classy rose.
The Facials/Oils
I finished this tube of Weleda Wild Rose Smoothing Night Cream a while ago, but I have kept the tube just because it's pink and cute. How pathetic of me. I liked the cream, but I thought the rose scent was too strong, especially for a night cream. So I wouldn't recommend for sensitive skin. I prefered the Smoothing Facial Oil capsules (see my review here).
I used to have a Neom Organics Complete Bliss Room Mist and I have to say, the name was well suited. Now I have run out of it, but I do still have a few of their mini oils, and the Complete Bliss Body Oil takes me back to my room in London, perfumed with Moroccan Blush Rose :)
If you read my blog last week you probably have read my post about my DYI Rose Water. I love how fresh it makes my skin feel.
What are your favourite rose products? Is rose your favourite flower?
Last week I talked about Maybelline, one of my favourite drugstore brands. Now this week, I'm posting about another one of my favourite drugstore brands: Revlon.
I particularly love their lip products, They always have creamy formulas and such pretty colours! The lip butters have been raved about on lots of blogs. Some people find them overrated. I don't. I prefer them to the butters and balms other brands do. And they have a variety of colours that ranges from nude, oranges, browns, reds, purples and pinks.
When I see that they are on super offer, I take advantage of it. (I must admit I have so many of them yet that I have to write a list of the ones I have.) They are now 3.99$ at PJC. It's almost half off, so it's insane! I grabbed Wild Watermelon, Juicy Papaya, Pink Lemonade and Sugar Frosting.
I also took a Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel in African Tea Rose. Now, I have swatched other colours before and didn't think they smelled that much but the advisor (which is my favourite, she knows her stuff!) told me that this particular one was a nicely scented one. And I couldn't pass the colour!
There you have it, my new Revlon products this week. Do you like Revlon? What are your favourite Revlon products?
With the snow fallen and here to stay, I think it is safe and appropriate to wear red lippies again!
They are so elegant and timeless, and I think everyone want to have some glamour in their life come Christmas time.

Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet: This is the easiest to wear, as it is sheener than the other ones. Perfect for red-newbies!
As you may know, reds are harder to wear than other colours, as they are so pigmented, You have to be careful to colour the edges properly! Also, to avoid thos nasty lipstick marks on your teeth,l ike you can see in one picture :(, suck your index finger a few times, so the excess transfers on the finger and not the teeth! Hope that helps!
Do you have a favourite red lipstick? Or do you wear other colours come Winter?
I was in need of a hairdryer and made some research before buying one. Now I don't know a lot about electrical devices... I was browsing on the internet on Boots' website and I found one that might suit my needs: Revlon Powerdry Glamour 2000w. It seemed to have everything I wanted: good voltage and power, ceramic and ionic technology, a nozzle, some handy accessories. And it was not expensive.
I bought the Revlon Powerdry Glamour 2000w hairdryer a month ago. On June 14th exactly. I wanted to write a review about it, and I was making sure I used it a few times properly before doing so (I don't wash my hair everyday).
As far as speed drying goes, this hairdryer is fab. It has enough watts to be powerful as I like hairdryers to be. It did a good job.
However, I think it has a few design flaws.
First, and everybody seems to agree on that: the cord is too short. I myself am short and I had to sit near the plug socket so I wasn't too far.
Second, I think it is too heavy. From all the reviews I read, everybody was raving about it being lightweight. Well it isn't.
Third, the hairdyer, whith the nozzle on is too long. I hit myself a few times while drying my hair...
Fourth, the on/off button doesn't work properly. Everytime I tried to put it off, I had to do it twice: it would stopped and then start again.
So I was using my hairdryer and taking notes to do a review when on Sunday, the plug melted in the wall socket!!!!!
That is the first time I see anything like this!!!! I have not read any reviews on that. Maybe it was just my actual hairdryer that had a problem... not the entire line.
Anyway, for this reason, I cannot recommend this product! In a sense I was lucky it didn't set on fire or cause further electrical damage (I have an electricity/fire phobia).
Here are some pictures of the "disaster":

So today I went back to the store to exchange it. It was hard to chose, and I felt like I couldn't trust any hairdryers anymore! But I chose Mark Hill's Style and Go Travel Dryer. I hope this will last me longer than the other one!
