If you're anything like me and are a candle junkie, you probably have a ton of candle jars leftover. And in some cases, you probably bought the candle because of the said jar...

I've been reusing mine since I started burning candles in high school and here are my tips on how to get the wax out, how to clean the jars and what I do with them. Enjoy!

Empty candle jars

One of my favourite ways to get the leftover wax out of the jars is to just put the jar in the freezer for a few hours (depending on the size), and then pop a knife in. It is the cleanest and easiest way to do this. I am then left with a fairly easy to clean jar and some wax barks.


But since I had lots of wax left, I wanted to make some wax tarts out of them and make it pretty. I used a pan with boiling water and the I put the jars to melt, using the same principle as in a bain-marie. TIP: to make your water boil faster, put some salt in it.

It's taking a little time to make the wax melt, depending on the size. The advantage of that technique is that it makes it so easy to take off the labels.

It has been a quiet day today. Besides the usual (the charity shops tour), I decided to tackle my closet. To say that I have been procrastinating over this project is an understatement.

Before: Yep, I'm guilty of shoving everything in the closet!

Reading articles about getting habits to be a go-getter (which is my new goal), one of the thing that struck me is that being a perfectionnist can inhibit the go getter in me. In the sense that sometimes we push aside the tasks that seems daunting, just because we want them to be perfect. But, a go getter will just do it, and then, when you are already in your stride, you find the task easier.

The other thing that pushed me to do it today is that yesterday I bought this bookshelf, for less than 25$. We have a clearance on furniture at work, and it seemed to be the way to go. I wasn't keen on the boookshelf being brown at first, but I like it. Especially with the paper fan I put on top of it!

Putting a bookshelf in the closet gives it a walk-in feeling, which I love. It's elegant. I can put some decor element and make vignettes. (Even though I already consider my closet a walk-in as it has a light inside).

Vue d'ensemble

I have been willing to show you my perfume collection for a while now, but something always made me say: "Keep it for later". Part of it is because my collection is split between London and my parent's place... And still is.

But now I have decided Enough already and I'm showing you my perfume collection at my parents'! Here I display my perfume on a cake stand that I found in a charity shop. In London, I used to store them on a turning mirrored tray.

Please note that I'm not usually displaying all my perfumes all the time, as I like to rotate them and store them in their box, in my closet. This helps to keep them for longer, as light and humidity spoils the perfumes.

Gender One (CK One): This is probably the oldest perfume I still got. I received this one when I was around 15, so that's about 15 years ago! I kinda have a love-hate relationship with this, sometimes I think the smell is too heavy and can make me have headaches (I'm really sensitive to smells). I have talked about it in yesterday's post!

Anna Sui Sui Love: This is one of the first "grown up" like perfum I have purchased. It was during my first year of university. It's actually the only perfume I have repurchased! I like to have a lot, so I keep them forever! It is also the scent that made my ex go crazy! A favourite!

Version of Paris Hilton: I don't have a lot to say about this one, I bought it at the store I work at before Christmas as they had a promotion on them and this one was the last one. They had other version like Tommy Hilfiger's Diamonds, and I don't remember well te others.

Suddenly Madame Glamour: I was telling you about Suddenly Madame Glamour about a year and a half ago. I bought the perfume and I'm pretty pleased, as I like Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle but it doesn't suit me well. This one is similar and I can wear it. And it's cheap!

Gossip Girl Spotted!: This was my mum's Christmas present, that she offered me in September (I was meeting a guy...) It's grown up and elegant, a good Autum/Winter scent.

Party Candy (Prada Candy): Ok, another version, I know I told you that I'm not a big fans of cheaper versions, but I still have a few.... I bought this at Dollarama for 2 or 3$. I don't have any Prada stockists near me so I cannot compare, but from what I remember, it's close.

Diesel Loverdose*: I would never have thought of trying this and maybe not liked it at first but this is one of my favourites. I got it at the Diesel and Grazia Event a year ago.

Pupa Rose Bouquet de Parfums: I got this one on my first trip to Mexico (on my way back). When walking into Cuernavaca, I was smelling this nice flower scent, but didn't know what it was. When I got the perfume, I thought that it was almost the same scent!

Vials, I also keep my Revlon Lip Butters in there!

I'm not going to talk much about the vials, but here is what I got in the stash: Outspoken by Fergie, Kim Kardashian, Plum by Mary Greenwell, Calvin Klein Beauty, Crabtree and Evelyn Iris, The Body Shop Dreams Unlimited and Britney Spears Radiance. The last one is the one I'm wearing these days, just because I want to finish it. Nothing special. I also have some Scent and Sensibility ones, but cannot remember the name of each.

It seems I cannot see a nice scarf without buying it. I simply have no willpower! Over the years, I have gathered a good amount of them and needed a way to organise them.

I was looking for a storage solution for my scarves for a little while. I was storing them in a fabric shopper bag, but I thought it was bulky.

I then saw Amy Antoinette's Komplement Hanger and thought this was a neat idea to store mine. But Ikea is pretty far from here and I don't like to order from them online as they never ship the things I am interrested in!



So yesterday I went shopping in New Brunswick and I found this one at Wal-Mart. They sell those as Christmas gifts, wrapped and everything. I was a little reticent about buying it as there was no display. I took the risk anyway.

This retails for $10 at Wal-Mart, but I later found out that the Supertore also has it, for $8. It can hold 14 scarves and shawls. It comes in three colours; grey, pink and teal green. I opted for the pink one. It was a tough one as I'm also really into grey at the moment, I think it is elegant.


I was afraid that there would be some naughty plastic bits around the edges that could tear the threads of my scarves, but luckily no! It is perfectly smooth and the scarves glide well. I'm glad I found this one. I'm still eyeing the Ikea one, as it holds twice the amount of scarves and is way cheaper. Anyway, I have so much scarves that I can use a fe of them!
