You may already know that I am in a waiting game for a UK visa. I have lived in London for 2 years and really liked it. It's home for me, at least at this point in my life. This has been confirmed when I returned to pick up my stuff in October.

Initially, I was on a "Youth Mobiliy visa", granted to young people from some countries that have arrangements with the UK. Canada is one of them, so I was lucky to be able to have this opportunity. This visa is good for 2 years. A regular working visa is valid for 3.

Now, getting a work visa for the UK is really hard to, as you have to be sponsored by an employer willing to pay for the process and also hire you. Mine (where I worked for the last 2 years) was supportive enough to do the whole licence application, in order to be a sponsor. They finally got that licence back in late October, exactly when I was in London moving my stuff.

But it seems that it cannot be as simple as this, as the headquarter told my director that some cuts would be made in some offices, which put a hold on my application process, as my position was on the line and nothing was really sure anymore...

Just right before Christmas, I got an email from my boss telling me that the headquarter closed 2 offices; one in Asia and one in Europe. My position seemed to be safe. Then I received an email from my director saying she was waiting for the budget confirmation and that she would get back with the Certificate of Sponsorship number that I need to get my application going.

That's where I'm at right now. I'm still playing the waiting game.

Why lucky 7? Well, I have this date, January 7 2013 in my head since a few months. First I thought this would be the date when I would move back to London. But this is obviously not the case!

Anyway, I'm sure something big will happen to me on this date, which is tomorrow! So I can't wait to see what tomorrow's got in stock for me, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be good. I cannot have had this date on my mind for a few months for nothing...

It might be about my visa situation, but it can also be something else. I'm not sure. But I know that getting my visa after almost a year would make me extremely happy!
