Homemade Vanilla Bean Syrup
20:30:00
I have a confession to make: I'm a coffee addict. Back in the days' I used to work for a big coffee shop chain. No no no, I won't tell you which one! :P
I made and tasted all kinds of coffee, but on a daily basis, a simple filtered one is fine with me. When I want to be fancy though, I add a little bit of vanilla syrup!
I just tried this recipe, as I wanted to use some vanilla beans I had bought. They came in this cool test tube! I had to buy it!
Here is what you'll need:
- 1 pan
- 1 sterilized glass jar/bottle
- a funnel
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- vanilla bean
So it is really simple. Put the water and sugar in a pan. Cut the vanilla in half lengthwise. Bring to a boil on medium heat, stirring to make sure the sugar dissolves in the mix. This will take about 10 minutes. Too much and you will have taffy! That's the mistake I almost made.
You then let it cool down, and you put it in your sterilized glass bottle. I sterilized mine in the oven for about 20 minutes.
You're left with this fancy syrup to put in your coffee, or wherever you desire! Enjoy!
How do you like your coffee?

I've always added vanilla extract to my coffee, but this looks like an even better idea!
